Aphid White Paper II: Proposal to complete development of the aphid model

Here you will find the most current working draft of Aphid White Paper II (.doc, .docx, .pdf) .  This document, prepared by Aphid Board
member Denis Tagu, Alex Wilson and Owain Edwards in consultation with members of the International Aphid
Genomics Consortium, defines the near-term goals of the aphid community, with a particular focus on four aims:

Aim 1: Improvement of the current pea aphid genome assembly and annotation
Aim 2: The sequencing of new aphid genomes
Aim 3: Development of an AphidAtlas: a gene atlas for the aphid that establishes a roadmap for all Hemiptera that
includes both development of a controlled vocabulary for anatomical structures and deep characterization of
transcripts and proteins.
Aim 4: Development of tools

The June 7th 2010 working draft of this document will form the basis of discussions at the 6th Meeting of the
International Aphid Genomics Consortium, Thursday June 10th 2010, Kansas City, MO, USA.
